A "Faburrito" Night

Love the cozy place and the fresh rules.
I love Burritos and Tacos and Nachos.  So you can imagine my delight when I discovered a place called "Faburrito" near our office.

First, the name is very catchy.  It's easy to remember and I find it very clever.  You can either interpret it as Fabulous Burrito or anyone loving Burritos (Paborito).  I just gotta find it out myself if the name fits.

The place has an "earthy" feeling to it which I love.  It must be because of the color palette they used on the walls that complimented with the wooden tables and chairs.   It just feels cozy inside.

The staff was very friendly.  They have a ready but genuine smiles on their faces.  And since it was my first time eating there, I got a little overwhelmed by the number of salsas and dressings.  That's when the knowledgeable staff came in and made suggestions.  Now that's what you call an expert in the product that they are selling.

I ended up ordering Regular Chicken Taco with Mango Vinaigrette and Garlic Aioli dressing.   I didn't know what to expect but hearing the fruit mango, then that must be good.  For an  additional 70php, the tacos that I ordered were upgraded into a meal.  I was given Veggie chips and salsa and a Mint Green Tea.  I love mint but I am not really a Tea-drinker but hey I am willing to try.

Veggie Chips and Salsa

Faburrito only serves healthy great tasting food.  They use all natural ingredients - no suger, MSG or preservative.  And don't expect sodas to be served with your food.  It was interesting because the tacos that I ate was extremely delicious.  I love the combination of the mango vinaigrette and garlic aioli dressing on my chicken. It was a bit messy to eat but it was all worth it. (Kudos to the Staff who suggested it! Sorry I was too excited to even get your name.)

Faburrito, my new paborito - I will be back and next time, I will get myself a Burrito.

Oh! And the tea?  My husband drank it. I had water. :)

LJS Bodega Sale 2012

It's the time of the year again!

LJS will be having their Annual Bodega Sale from November 8-11, 2012.  It's something that me and my husband are looking forward to because everything there is a STEAL!!!  We didn't have that much budget last year so we only bought a couple of items when we were there last year.

So mark your dates.  The map to the Bodega is available at the LJS website.

See you there!

Mommy Discovery: Drypers Head to Toe Wash

When you hear Drypers, what comes into your mind first is diapers.  My son is Drypers baby since birth.  We still use them now when we leave the house. He never had rashes on his bum and he's always had a good night sleep.  I was thrilled when I found out at the Drypers Shower Party at the Crowne Plaza Hotel, that they too have Drypers accessories.

Wearing Drypers at 4 months.
I went home with a sample of the Head to Toe Wash, Baby Bath and Baby Shampoo.  I was too excited that I used the Head to Toe Wash the next day when I bathe my son.  I was curious too on how it will fare against the baby shampoo that we are currently using.

The Baby Wash has a mild scent that is not irritating to the nose.  It is also gentle enough for babies to use.  I especially like the fact that it too is gentle on your baby's eyes.

After his bath came the real test.  One active toddler plus a garage where he could run around and play equals one stinky toddler at the end of the day.  I was pleasantly surprised that I can still smell the scent of the shampoo before he and I went to sleep.  This is the first time that I actually didn't cringe. LOL :)

I headed to the nearest grocery store only to find out that the product is not yet available.  I am looking forward for it to be launched (hopefully soon) and for sure I will be one of the first moms to buy this.  But for now, you can get them by collecting 60 Drypers points and have them exchanged for Drypers Accessories.  Just visit the Drypers Community website and click on Drypers Gifts for Grabs at the lower left portion of the site.

Update!!!!
Drypers Head to Toe Wash is available in selected supermarkets like South Supermarket, Landmark and Ever Supermarket.  Get one now!

Have a baby? Gotta Wear them

I consider myself lucky that I was introduced to the world of babywearing.  Prior to that, my husband and I used to bring one of those bulky strollers that was handed over to use by my sister-in-law.   It was so hard to difficult to take with us even for a short trip to the pediatrician so we bought an umbrella type stroller.  Sadly, these strollers sometimes end up as our shopping card because my son would rather be carried in my arms.  And who could forget my husband struggling to juggle the baby bag, the shopping bags and the big bulky strollers.

Baby wearing at the airport

I've seen moms wearing their babies using a baby carrier.  Bach then, we were not sure what to get or what will work for us.  I attributed the start of my babywearing journey to Dainty Mom.  If I hadn't won the Next 9 Jellybean Ring Sling, I'd still be clueless.  You can read about my experience with the Ring Sling here.

October is babywearing awareness month.  Discover the joys about babywearing, the different types of baby carriers and the right way to wear your baby.  The Filipino Association of Babywearers will have another Babywearing Meet this Saturday, October 20, 2012 at the Renaissance 3000 in Ortigas.  The Meeting will start at 1:30 pm.  I don't think I'd be comfortable and confident wearing my baby if not for the Babywearing Meets that I have attended in the past.  (If I'm not mistaken, I attended 3 sessions).

Register now! All you need to do is visit Chronicles of a Nursing Mom Webpage here.

Be part of the babywearing community now.  Did I mention there will be raffles and baby carriers on Sale?

Girls Day Out with Mommy Mundo

My daughter and I together with my niece had our own version of Girl's Day Out earlier today.  We went to Mommy Mundo's Mom's on the Floor held at the Loft @ Manansala Tower in Rockwell, Makati.

The event was divided into three (3) portions.  I signed up for the 3rd one where we could participate in YogaKids by Michelle Aventajado and Zumba fun by Slimmers World.

The sight that greeted us as we arrived @ The Loft.

We arrived in the middle of the 2nd portion where Infant Massage is being shown by Rome Kanapi.  Arriving early gave me more time to visit the booths of the sponsors and take pictures. I also had the chance to chat with my mommy friends before they joined Baby Exercises by Gymboree.

Rome Kanapi on Infant Massages.  Guess who her "baby" is. That's Eliza (Painter's Wife) who's also the host.
Moms trying out the infant massage on their babies.  Quite an effort, can you tell?

It wasn't that long before it is finally our turn.  My daughter and niece were a little hesitant at first (only because there were more toddlers running around than kids their age) but they ended up having fun especially when it was time to do the Zumba!  I didn't get to take more pictures because we were too busy shaking our "booties."  It kind of transported me back to my college days when I used to attend Aerobics class everyday.

Yoginis on the Floor
This our first time attending 'Moms on the Floor' and I say it's a perfect name for the event.  Everyone is literally on the floor having a blast.  My daughter and my niece are still talking about it especially when they both went home with their own Headware.

Until the next event, Mommy Mundo

Thank you Mommy Mundo.  The event had a great turnout and I can't wait for the next one.  It made our Girls Day Out one of a kind.

Philips Avent: From Pregnancy to Playground

Last October 6, 2012, Philips AVENT , a leader in parenting and baby products organized an event in celebration of the many facets of motherhood.  I say this event was not just for the mothers but for the entire family.  It was informative for both parents as it was a fun activity for the kids.  It featured the belly cast exhibit by birth artist, Mimsy Sermonia-Jundis together with the works of Stanley Ong, a renowned pregnancy portraitist.

From Pregnancy to Playground is an interactive exhibit that features activities from different stages of motherhood.  The Grand Atrium was divided into three (3) areas: Baby Bump, New Baby and Growing Baby.  Baby Bump are for pregnant mothers, New Baby - for moms with babies up to 18 months old and Growing baby for moms with toddlers like me.

The Entrance to the Exhibit area and below is my kid's favorite area - Scrapbooking.
The exhibit opened at 10am but me and my toddler ran a little late.  The talks have started and most of my mommy friends who are Avent users were already there.  Each mom was given a "passport" as a guide for them to go through the exhibit areas and once they're done, they can claim their loot bags.

Because I brought along my toddler with me, I was only able to get bits and pieces of the information provided by the speakers that day.  But what struck me the most was the talk on children's oral care.

Note to self: I need to schedule my son's dental checkup now that he's two.  I learned that we should have started when he was 1.

As for my older daughter, I should stop buying kiddie toothpaste and have her use an adult toothpaste instead.  The latter contains Flouride that's healthy for the teeth and gums.  Brushing the teeth for 2 minutes is also recommended.

With much of the talks ongoing, my son was busy running up and down the slide set up by Gymboree.  And later he helped himself with the crayons in the scrapbooking area.  He was given Truman, the bunny's picture to color and decorate.  He's a toddler so he mostly just made scribbles and doodles.  He was also given buttons and a few cutout shapes that he and I pasted.  He tells me where he wants to put the button and I put a paste on it.  He was pretty happy about his "artwork" that I had it pinned on the wall for his Tatay to see.  My husband caught up with us after he fetched our daughter from the School Camping Activity and he was all grins when he saw what our son did.  My daughter immediately dove in the scrapbooking table and decorated our picture.  Little did we know that these were judged and Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan, the brand ambassador picked his work as one of the winners.  He won a Philips Avent 7-oz Straw Cup.

Clockwise from the top left: my son's winning artwork; him showing off the crayon;
him having his picture taken with  his artwork and him falling asleep while i claim his prize.

It was only when my son fell asleep that I got to sit down to watch and listen to the activities on stage.  Maricel Laxa-Pangilinan read us her new book "Kuya na si Bunso" which I find as a fun way of explaining what it means if mommy is pregnant.  Chef Mitchie did a cooking demo using the Philips Avent Steamer/Blender.  My mommy friends eagerly participated in the Gymboree class demo on stage together with their toddlers.  And my daughter happily watched and participated in the magic show.

Couldn't resist having our picture taken with Mommy Maricel; Avent Lootbag and my son's prize.

We're very thankful that Philips Avent organize this kind of activity that not only showcase the quality of products that they offer but they also provide information that is essential for Moms like me.

I'm Baaacckkk!

I can't believe that my medical leave is OVER!  I was able to secure clearance from my physician and the company doctor that I am fit to go back to work.  Why the mixed emotions?

I look forward to going back to doing the things that I am good at.  I look forward to the next fat paycheck. I look forward to seeing my colleagues and friends and I can't wait to jump into the project that I was working on until I got sick.

And there's the big BUT.

I feel a little uncertain going back because I don't know which campaign I will be assigned to.  Will I be supporting the same account or a different account?  Will I be managing the same team or start a new one?

Life in the BPO industry is not really certain in a sense that people get transferred from one campaign to another depending on the immediate need.  But whatever the outcome, I'm sure it's something that I can handle.
